David Bowie's homepage

For those of you new to this page, yes, my name is David Bowie and no, i'm not that David Bowie. If you're looking for information on the rather more famous person with the same name, i'd suggest trying some other page.

To start us off, here's the official motto of this page:

And now for the reason this page exists — my lists of links. By way of explanation, they're based on the few real passions in my life. These include my family, language, religion, and music — and, of course, there's always assorted other stuff that i find at least interesting. I have pages that deal with each of these subjects to some extent, which you can get to via the following list (or by using the links to the left).


	•	Home


	I just include this for completeness, since it's this page you're looking at. It's over to the left, though, so that you can get back to this page whenever you'd like.


	•	My family


	Or in other words, Jeanne, Sadra Marie, Hriana, and me all at once. I should note that this'll take you to a different site with a different homepage.


	•	Language


	Language is enough of a passion of mine that i'm even making a career of it (in sociolinguistics and dialectology, to be specific). This will take you to another site so that you can see my "professional" homepage, which is by definition somewhat more boring and impersonal than the pages at this site, but that's the nature of the thing, no?


	•	Religion


	This will take you to the reason for most of the visits to this site, my collection of religious links, which are almost entirely links dealing with Mormonism and closely related religions. Some of what i have here is out of date; a major revision is in the works, but i decided that moving this to a new server was a higher priority than getting everything completely current.


	•	Music


	As for music, i'm a fan of several kinds of music, particularly prog-rock and folk (with a special place in my heart for bands that at least attempt to blend the two). This will take you to a relatively sparse page holding mainly links to the homepages for a few bands (and basses) i like.


	•	Other stuff


	There's nothing here yet — this is a placeholder link. Don't click this link — you'll just be taken to an essentially empty page. Once i get the page properly set up, the description of the page will be: This is just basically stuff that happened to fit my mood at some point in time. Quite honestly, it's mainly junk that i can't bear to part with but serves no understandable purpose. If you'd like to see the cumulative effects of too many years on the 'net, feel free to click through — but don't expect neatly ordered lists of useful material.

	For those of you who'd like to know more about me in particular but not necessarily about the items i have highlighted on my pages, this is your link. It covers such things as my academic/professional history, my religious life as a Mormon, and why i don't capitalize the word "i".

So why do i do this? Why do i maintain this free, time-consuming, non-income-producing set of pages on the web? Several people have asked me this, and so to answer you all i've invited (well, okay, scrounged up) guest voice Vlada to explain why.
